Notes

  • This is currently an active state tower
  • This tower was privately built in 1909 and permission was given to the state to use it.
  • This is the only stone tower still in use.
  • A stone cab was constructed on top in 1912.
  • All stone used to built the tower was carved from a quarry on this mountain.
  • In 1913, the state purchased 42 acres around tower
  • The tower cab and ground cabin were destroyed by lightning and fire in 1944.
  • As a result, a new tower cab an lightning arresting system was installed on the tower.
  • A new (the current) tower cab was built in 1967
