FIRE TOWER CEMETERY

In Northern Minnesota there is a place were fire towers go. Well only if Lyle Fenske goes and gets them and brings the towers back. Lyle works for the MN Dep. of Natural Resources (DNR) and has always been interested in fire towers. On his own time he takes down towers and brings the works back to a friends farm near his place. Lyle said he wants to put one of the towers back up on this site, it's just a matter of time. Last summer when the Minnesota Forest History Center needed windows for their tower, that was going to be open on July 19th, they got all the parts from Lyle.

In the 1930's the six sided towers were common through out Northern Minnesota.
Roughly twenty still stand today.
