The Forest History Center at Grand Rapids, Mn. had open house for it's Fire tower on June 13. Dave Quam, FFLA web master, was the tower interrupter for the day. Eighty three guest climbed the tower. Four at a time are allowed on top. The tower is open every day for visitors. On hand were three special guests. The man that oversaw the construction of the tower in 1934 by the CCC's when it was in the Chippewa National Forest....Zig Zasada and two other lookout men, Ron Finn and Dick Bevins, both worked in the Chippewa. Skip Drake, the FHC site Manager, organized the full day's event.
