Notes

  • This is currently an active state tower
  • In 1928, a 68 FT tower costing $2,000 is built
  • The towns of Athol, Barre, Dana, Petersham, Phillipston, New Salem, and Templeton each contributed $100 toward the cost of the tower
  • In 1938, this tower was destroyed in the great hurricane of 1938
  • In October of 1938, a temporary wooden tower was built
  • In 1939, a new 68 FT tower was built along with a new phone and power line
  • Also in 1939, two-way radios were installed
  • In 1966, a new fence was constructed
  • In 1967, a new cab was built
