Forest Service Lookout Rentals
Since
February 2, 2006 nearly all U.S. Forest Service rental lookouts and cabins have
been under the National Recreation Reservation System. Instead of making reservations
at a Forest Service office, people will be able to reserve cabins and lookouts
up to 180 days in advance using the below contact information:

program has been in use for many campground and other recreation reservations
for several years. Under a federal law passed last year, all federal agencies
are required to use one reservation system for all recreation-related activities.
The “one-stop shopping” for reservations has other advantages in not being tied
to office hours and that payments may be made by credit card, money order, or
cashier’s check. The downside is that in addition to the rental fees (which will
continue to be used by the Forest Service to maintain the facilities), a $9.00
fee will be charged by the program administrator and site-specific information
will still have to be obtained from the local ranger district. California
