FFLA Directors Meeting
Time- 7:30 PM

Place- Newcomb Fire & Rescue Building, Newcomb, NY

Directions- On Route 28N in Newcomb by ball field-east of Long Lake

Speaker & topic- Jack Freeman, author of Views on High Fire Tower Trails in the Adirondacks and Catskills, will give an introduction to the towers of the area and their history.

Keith Argow, President of FFLA will then conduct FFLA meeting.

Lodging- HUNTINGTON FOREST-$ 50 per day -3 meals per day sleeping in bunks 4 to 8 in a room-bring own towel and bedding

Breakfast
Time- 8 - 8:30AM

Cost- $5

Place- Huntington Forest Dining Hall

Speaker & topic- Ray Masters will talk about the history of the Huntington Estate and forest. Ray will then take participants on a tour of the estate and lead a hike to the Goodnow fire tower.

Goodnough Mt. Hike
3.8 mile round trip-moderate climb

Directions- On Route 28 N - 1.5 miles west of entrance to the Visitors Center and west of Newcomb or 11.4 miles east of Long Lake.

Lunch- Bag lunch- cost $5- will be eaten at the summit

Afternoon hikes-(choice)
Owl's Head- located near Indian Lake- 6.2 mile round trip-moderate climb

Blue Mountain- 4.0 round trip-some steep areas-trail is 20 minutes south of Long Lake

Mount Arab- 2,0 mile round trip- short with varying grade hike- near Route 3 west of Tupper Lake

Dinner
Location- at Huntington Forest Dining Hall

Cost- $10 each (dinner is included if you are staying at the Huntington Forest)

Time-7:00

Speakers & topics- Tom Martin, District Forester at Ray Brook DEC Office, will speak about the DEC's role in tower restoration and about his experiences as an observer on Pharaoh Mt.

Paul Lasky Presentation- He will present a slide show of fire towers of the Adirondacks from his new book about hikes to present fire towers of New York State.

Hikes: (choice)
Vanderwacker Mt.-5.4 mile round trip hike-level at first then relentlessly steep- southeast of Newcomb off Route 28 N

Hadley Mt.-southwest of Lake George-3.6 mile round trip hike-take I-87 south to Exit 21 to Village of Luzerne (more directions will be given)

Azure Mt.-2.0 mile round trip-short and pleasant hike-near St. Regis Falls near Rt. 458 in northwestern Adirondacks
