FFLA EASTERN CONFERENCE


Itinerary

Friday night
Dinner and then open talk on towers and related subjects. Great view of the sundown will be provided by our member Lance Perry from his own lookout tower in Canton,Ct.

Saturday
Tower tour and Guest speakers, Breakfast will be at "Bickfords" rest. along rte 44 in Avon,CT. at 8am. We will leave from here for our tower tour at 9am. We will be planning to visit at least between 5 and 8 towers. Lunch stop will be on the road. Then back to Avon,CT. for dinner at an Italian rest.

Sunday
Breakfast is up to you, but We will be meeting at Lance's tower in Canton,CT. at 9am to start our tour of towers. we hope to visit at least 4 more towers. Lunch again will be on the road or up to you.

We will be meeting on Friday night for dinner at the "Dakota" restaraunt along rte 44 in the town of "AVON" CT. at 7:30pm The board of fair is Steak and alike at moderate pricing $12-$20. The same price range for dinner Sat. night also and Breakfast at "Bickfords" in Avon,Ct. on Sat. morning is about $7.

Directions

A) From the Northeast:
rtes 95 and 93 south to rte 495 south to rte 290 west to rte 90 west (mass turnpike) to exit #3 "Westfield Ma." rte 202 south. (see "D" directions from here )

B) From the East and Southeast:
Rte 90 west (Ma.turnpike) or rte 495 north to rte 90 west to exit #3 Westfield,Ma. rte 202 south, (see "D"
directions from here )

C) From the West:
Follow rte 90 East into massachusetts this hi-way is now the Ma. turnpike follow to exit #3 Westfield,Ma. rte 202
south,(see "D" directions from here )

D) From 202:
Follow rte 202 south to rte 44 west in "AVON" CT. rtes 44 and 202 proceed west together into Canton,Ct. Look for the Dakota along rtes 44 & 202 in Avon,CT. on the left side of the rd.

E) From the South:
Follow rte 95 north to the Bridgeport,CT. area looking for rte 8 north to Torrington,CT. to rte 202 north, (follow "G" directions from here )

F) From the Southwest:
Follow rte 84 east to rte 8 north to Torrington,CT. to rte 202
north, (follow "G" directions from here )

G) From 44:
To rte 44 east, rte 202 joins rte 44 in Canton,CT. and both proceed together thru Avon,CT. The Dakota will be on the right side of the road.

H) From the north:
follow rte 91 south to the mass turnpike rte 90 west to exit #3 "Westfield Ma." rte 202 Follow rte 202 south to rte 44 west in "AVON" CT. rtes 44 and 202 proceed west together into Canton,Ct. Look for the Dakota along rtes 44 & 202 in Avon,CT. on the left side of the rd.

I) And from northern NY:
follow rte 87 south to rte 90 east, Follow rte 90 East into massachusetts this hi-way is now the Ma. turnpike follow to exit #3 Westfield,Ma. rte 202 south, Follow rte 202 south to rte 44 west in "AVON" CT. rtes 44 and 202 proceed west together into Canton,Ct. Look for the Dakota along rtes 44 & 202 in Avon,CT. on the left side of the rd.


For those of you who may be flying in, driving from the closest airports are as follows:

Bradley int. Hartford,CT. area 1 hr from meeting, Albany,NY. int. 2 hrs.,

New York cities airports( JFK, Laguadia, Newark) between 2 & 3 hrs.

Green int. in Providence, Rhode island between 2 & 2.5 hrs

Logan int. Boston,Ma. between 2 & 2.5 hrs

All have lots of rental car companies availible

There is also a limited amount of VERY Primitive or self contained free camping at the bottom of Lance's tower on a first come first served basis. If you want one of these sites you must let me know ASAP so I can reserve you one. One site has already been taken. Please Just be aware that there is NO Water, NO Electricity and NO BATHROOMS at the tower site! ...So your on your own, but don't worry theres plenty of woods to go round.
