Southern New England Chapter Report
2007

In the past year 7 new possible tower sites were being researched across the chapter, from leads found by information from members, the public, and one old photo found in a local historical archive. One previous site of a later tower was located in Rhode island. Research of all of these locations is ongoing.

It has been learned that the state of RI has decided to have bids go out on some of it's towers, which ones and when bids will be taken is not known at this time. Only 3 towers in RI were used at all in the last year out of 8 still serviceable.

In CT it was learned that the Storrs tower atop the UConn water tank will be relocated in the coming year but that only it's location will be changed by a few hundred yards and not any of the structure. There are no used towers in CT used out of 4 still serviceable.

In MA the towers at Holbrook and Waltham both previously closed, were removed. Holbrook was demolished by the state due to it's high lead content, but Waltham was sold to a gentleman and moved to TN. This tower was sold by the state through the efforts of this chapters Director. All towers were in use as needed during the year according to the fire danger. Towers were repaired as needed.

The entire 3 state chapter saw a lesser fire activity overall then in previous years.

The chapter has 22 members of which 13 are plus members, 2 members have not renewed and have been dropped from the membership roll.

Respectfully submitted…. Henry Isenberg
FFLA So. N.E. Chapter Director
