Lookout News:
Chapter Director continuing to work on a comprehensive list of So. Idaho Lookouts that shows whether they are 1) staffed, 2) historic, 3) listed on the National Historic Lookout Register (NHLR), 4) eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP).

Chapter Director preparing NHLR nominations for So. Id. Lookouts that have been determined eligible for listing in the NRHP, and so would automatically qualify for the NHLR. Those being nominated include:
1. Bear Valley
2. Danskin
3. Meadow Creek
4. Rice Peak
5. Scott Mtn.
6. Silver Creek
7. Swanholm
8. Trinity
9. Whitehawk

The Boise NF heritage Program with the help of Kirby Mathew of the USFS Northern Region Preservation Team is replacing windows on three lookouts this coming summer. The lookouts are Deadwood (already listed on NHLR), Silver Creek, and Scott Mtn.

The Sawtooth NF Heritage Program is preparing preservation plans for three lookouts; Horton Peak, Blad Mtn., and Lookout Mtn. The plans will include nomination of those lookouts to the NHLR.
