Southern U.S. Chapter Report
2006

MEMBERSHIP: The Southeastern U.S. Chapter membership had a very good year in 2006. Although we lost 10 members in 2005 (to create the new Virginia Chapter), we had a net gain of 10 new in 2006. This is second only to the ID-north/MT Chapter, which had a net gain of 11. We currently have 41 paid members, of which 22 are Plus.

2006 MEETINGS: Chap. Director Keith Argow attended the National Board meeting in Oregon (January), as well as the Eastern Summer meeting in New Jersey (August) and the Western Summer meeting in California (September).

CHAPTER DEVELOLPMENT: In January 07 the SEUS Chapter will spin off another 10 members to create the new Ohio Chapter. Active efforts are on-going to establish new chapters in Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, and North Carolina. The goal is to create at least three new chapters in 2007, and one of those is now established.

RESTORATIONS: A number of local restorations of lookouts were on-going in 2005, but none of them were completed by year end.

FFLA AREA REPS: The chapter continues to use "Area Reps" to promote FFLA activities within states, including inventories and establishment of new chapter. These Reps are: GA: Don Shedd; MS: M.T. Parker; MO: Jim Lyon; WV: Ralph Glover, and NC: Peter Barr. Additional Area Representatives are being sought.

PLAN OF WORK FOR 2007;
· Grow membership by 15%
· Secure storage site for salvaged fire towers
· Continue to assist in two restorations, and add one new one

Respectfully submitted: Keith Argow, Director
