AREA CHAPTER ACTIVITIES
The area chapter co-hosted 2005 Western Regional Conference at McCall, ID in September. The area chapter has taken up local management responsibilities for Tunk Mountain Lookout and has performed some maintenance on the lookout.

LOOKOUT NEWS:
Quartz Mountain Lookout was opened for renting by Mount Spokane State Park. It has proven to be very popular - an immediate success, despite the lack of road access.

Bonaparte Mountain Lookout received major renovation work, including a new roof.

Tunk Mountain Lookout was actively used for fire detection for the first time in many years. A paid Forest Service contractor staffed the lookout for about a month during the time Bonaparte Lookout was unavailable for use due to renovation work. He did make some first reports, too.

Salmo Mountain Lookout and Timber Mountain Lookout both received substantial restoration work primarily from volunteers.
There were no significant changes to the list of actively staffed lookouts from previous years.
