| Activities Statement I began the year by organizing and chairing a symposium on historic Lookout Towers for the 2008 annual meetings of the Society for Historical Archaeology in Albuquerque in January. The symposium title was Fire Lookout Towers: From Protectors of the Forests to Silent Sentinels. The paper I presented in it was Building a Lookout Tower Database at Forest, State or National Level. As Arkansas Chapter Director, I have responded to almost a dozen requests for information on both the state and national level while continuing to add data to the Arkansas Lookout Inventory. I continue to assist the city of Hamburg, Arkansas, by writing letters of support for their grant applications to the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program for the reconstruction of the Crossroads Lookout Tower. From the City Of Hamburg this year we have received photos of the Crossroads Tower Restoration project from December 2007 through June 2008. I have also assisted Donald Long of Lowgap, Arkansas, with a CD of Tower plans for his moving of two 100 foot LS-40s (they were the Majette and Vicksburg from the FL Panhandle) to Arkansas.
