FFLA is on a
roll. Working together we can complete our ambitious agenda for 2002
and beyond.
1. 9 of our 19 US directors attended.
2. Treasurer's report: All chapters except one have transferred to central
billing a mailing of reneweal statements. Net worth of FFLA is now $13,
606.

3. Election, all officers were re-elected to 2 yr. terms
4. Guidelines for the new Lookout Restoration Fund (chaired by Spear)
were approved and the program budgeted for 2002.
5. Lookout Certification program was discussed and declined. However,
the concept of certificates of attendance for individual workshops hosted
by and issued by chapters (usually at the summer regional meeting) was
approved.
6. A new Central California Chapter was established. The appointment
of Kathy Bates as Director was confirmed by the Board.
7. A workshop on mission building was conducted Kris Komar (FFLA program
consultant) , John Henshaw (USFS) and Kathy Bates (Cen. Calif. Director).
Results will be shared with full board when written.
8. A New Century For Lookouts Committee was established. Kathy Bates
will chair it.
9. The 2003 Elections committee was appointed: Rob Hoeye,Chair, Isenberg
(eastern) and Lynch (western).
10. Article 2 of FFLA Constitution.
It was discovered by in the process of revision, Article 2: Statement
of Purpose, has apparently been omitted. Following the bylaw provision
for amendment the following statement was approved by the Board and
will be adopted up formal reading and approval at the two forth coming
summer meetings:
"The purpose of the Forest Fire Lookout Association is to educate
the general public on the history and current role of fire lookout sites
and facilities in the United States and the world, and to promote their
idenity, preservation, and local restoration."
11. The next national annual meeting of the FFLA board is called for
January 18-19, 2002 (MLK holiday) at Roanoke, VA. Additional meetings
of officers and directors present at the summer meetings are called
for July 2002 in New Hampshire (dates to be announced), and Sept 6-8
at Winthrop, WA.
12. The minutes will include the excellent reports of chapter accomplishments,
the NHLR report, etc.
